Introducing Matilda Rose. (She that started it all!)

The years have come and gone and along the way we reflect upon the fun

That Australian Red Hats have been having since the hatting was introduced here in 2001.

Just like the original chapter founded in 1998, ladies dress in their colourful gear

Gather and meet in the name of the sisterhood, sharing friendships and light-hearted cheer.

For those that do not know me let me explain who I am,

I’m a cute Red Hat mascot that was given to AJM.

I’m Matilda Rose and my website was commenced when there were only two.

It’s really great now that in Australia there are quite a few.

Yes Red Hat groups have swelled all around the world

With women over 50 embracing the new-found philosophy.

That it’s OK to be seen in public adorned with feathers and lots of jewels,

Laughing and smiling and taking time out… “Just for Me”.

We have Mini Olympics and the croquet games, tennis or whatever sets the mood.

And also lots of shopping in between consumption of lots of  food.

There are “naming” nights and scavenger hunts and many a ball is bowled

Pyjama parties, fancy dress, makeup demos and at Casinos - dice are often rolled.

There are beach walks and the river strolls, some support this and that.

But whatever we were doing, we always wear our special RED HATS.

And as we look back now we see how many new friendships that have grown.

We’ve shared the jokes, the laughs, the hoots, so much fun we have not known.

There’s been dinners, and some cruising, and picnics under the tree

There’s been races and the theatre and some have appeared on ABC.

Some have traveled here and traveled there and have hosted others too

There were trips on trains, buses and floats and walks around the zoo.

We’ve had a Convention, Coronations, Birthday parties and many a Red Hatter done her jiggle

When she “Kicked up her Heels” at Gosford or attended the Girlfriends Giggle.

The Queens they have all gathered and shared information all around

So that Australian groups all know that inter-State friendships are on firm ground.

Yes all amongst the chapters we express our joys, our highs and lows

That’s why you are invited to contribute to this site by sending all your news

Here’s hoping that we all get to enjoy red hatting adventures again this year

And may we continue to support each other sharing our Red Hatting points of views.
